Clark Machine was recently contacted by a North Carolina customer to undertake the challenging project of fabricating fender piles and assemblies for a bridge. These physically large products could not be completed without Clark’s wide scope of capabilities and highly coordinated skills.   

Designs were provided by the customer in the form of 2D CAD drawings. Fabrication utilized plasma cutting, die and press brake forming/bending, welding, surface grinding and drilling processes. Since the piles would be in water, they received a protective thermal aluminum spray coating. In order to meet the necessary bending requirements of this project, we utilized a purpose built 75-ton press.  A project manager along with engineering and certified weld inspectors ensured robust construction at each step of production.

According to a customer-driven schedule, the up-to 39’ long and 8’ wide pieces were planned, fabricated, finished, and transported to the work site solely by Clark Machine. Few other companies would be able to deliver even part of this order on time, much less its entirety plus transport.
